We’re Resolved to Make a Difference in 2026

By Evan Cauble-Johnson, Acting CEO, Street Business School

January is a time for New Year’s resolutions. And just as we have since Street Business School was founded in 2018, we are resolved to support women experiencing deep poverty in Uganda and around the world by equipping them with the tools they need to become thriving entrepreneurs.

Of course, New Year’s resolutions are notoriously difficult to keep. According to U.S. News & World Report, about 23% of Americans abandon their resolutions within the first week, and 43% by the end of January.

So if you’re looking for a resolution this year that you know you can keep, how about this: walk with us.

As I shared in my last post, despite the many challenges facing the international development sector, I am genuinely excited about the future of Street Business School. Our program is making a demonstrable, sustainable difference in the lives of our graduates, and we have the right tools in place to responsibly bring our work to a much larger scale.

In a time when so many global and political forces feel overwhelming and outside of our control, we know this to be true: with every woman who graduates from our program, we take a meaningful, positive step toward a world without poverty. That progress is the result of a collective commitment from everyone who makes Street Business School possible: from the entrepreneurs themselves, doing the hard work of building businesses in markets and fields around the world; to our dedicated staff in Africa and the United States; to every donor who invests not only their dollars, but their belief, in our mission.

In 2026, in partnership with many of our most steadfast funders and collaborators, we will reach a new high watermark, bringing the Street Business School program directly to nearly 2,000 people across Uganda, from rural communities in the West and North to the bustling capital of Kampala.

We will also continue to grow our global network of partner organizations, which now includes 330 certified partners working in 39 countries.

All of this effort is in service of a bold but achievable goal: to triple our annual reach by 2030 and surpass the milestone of 200,000 graduates since our work began, creating ripple effects that will positively impact hundreds of thousands of children and family members around the world.

Resolve to walk with us this year, and I guarantee you’ll have an outcome you can be proud of on December 31.
